Bathroom Progress {One Room Challenge Week 3}

It’s Week 3 of the One Room Challenge hosted by Calling it Home. I started a week late so this is only my second post, but it is week 3 so we are halfway through the challenge. If you missed last week’s post, you can find it here.

I’d like to be able to tell you that everything is moving right along.  The fact is, however, I painted my bathroom this week, and I don’t like it at all.

The beautiful light french gray with blue undertones paint that I chose reads as powder baby blue on my walls.

The wall on the right looks like the color I wanted it to look, but the wall with the door and the rest of the room reads powder blue — particularly when the lights are off — in which case it’s very, very bright light blue.

My daughter thinks the powder blue is pretty.  And, if that’s what I was going for, I would agree that it’s a nice color.  It’s just not what I wanted.  And, my husband hates baby blue so it’s just not going to work. (more…)

Bathroom Makeover Take 2 {One Room Challenge}

If you are a follower of my blog, you will recognize this inspiration board.  This post and it’s contents will seem  familiar.

You’re probably asking yourself lots of questions:  Didn’t she post this earlier this year?  Haven’t we already seen this?  Didn’t she already do a bathroom makeover in a farmhouse style?

Yes, yes and no. (more…)

Ugly Red Bathroom Progress {One Room Challenge Week 2}

Last week, I showed you my ugly red bathroom that is stuck in the early 2000’s.  If you missed that post, you can read it here.  Just to refresh your memory, I am updating my dated pool bath as a part of the One Room Challenge (ORC) hosted by Calling it Home.

Each week, I will post progress of my bathroom leading up to the big reveal on Week 6.  Remember, I am not doing a total gut of this room, nor am I making any major updates like planking a wall or putting in new counters — those type of updates are just not in the budget.  I am working with what is already there to freshen it up and give it more of my current style. Ugly Red Bathroom Update {One Room Challenge}

We bought our house 15 years ago when everyone was in love with dark reds, deep golds, browns and jewel tones.  And, yes, I was on that dark color train, too.  I’m sorry to say that I still have a room in my home that is stuck in that era.  It’s a little embarrassing.

I have wanted to change it for ages but so many other things have stolen my attention so it just kept getting pushed to the way side.

Well, friends, I recently found that the bi-annual One Room Challenge hosted by Calling it Home starts today.

It is just the kick in the pants I need to get this bathroom updated and looking fresh and farmhouse-y — more like the rest of my house! I will have just six weeks to get my room done from start to finish. (more…)

Pinning and Future Projects

It seems like every January I find myself surfing the Internet and pinning things I love more than usual.

You see, in January I am 1) at the start of a new budget year and 2) with the hulabaloo of the holidays behind me, I can get focused on my bigger projects around the house.   This leads to lots of inspiration searching and pinning on Pinterest.
