Spring Front Porch Inspiration

It’s the first day of spring and we finally have some beautiful spring weather!   The sunshine and warmer temperatures lift my spirits and get me thinking about my yard.

As a result, I have been busy getting my yard ready for planting and doing several yard-related projects.  We just finished getting a drip irrigation system installed in all of our beds and, oh boy, did we need that!  I’m so hopeful that this new system will help keep more plants alive.  I’ve lost so many during these past few years with the drought.

Hopefully, I’ll be sharing some of my completed yard projects soon (they’re still in progress)!

One “project” I’m working on is getting my front porch all spruced up.  I want to get some new outdoor pillows, move a few things around and freshen a piece or two up with some paint.  So I started doing a little playing with a mood board to help me get a vision.  When I have lots of ideas in my head swirling around, it always helps me to put things together where I can see them.

Here’s my spring front porch inspiration:

I am going for a more colorful look on the front porch this year.

I am loving this fabric from fabric.com

suzani

I think it’s so fresh and colorful.  It feels like summer just looking at it!

I also love these galvanized planters from Pottery Barn:

They add a casual, rustic charm I think.

The best part is, you can get this look for a lot cheaper than major retailer prices.  I’ve seen buckets at the hardware store that would look just as cute for a fraction of the price.

I’m getting so anxious to get things moving outside, but the forecast still calls for some more chilly nights so I can’t go all out yet.

In the meantime, I think I’ll be ordering that cute fabric so I can sew a couple of pillows.

How about you?  Are you planning for spring yet?

Spring Inspiration

My kids are officially on spring break as of yesterday afternoon and this year we have decided to stay at home instead of going skiing.

I just couldn’t stomach the thought of purposely going to cold, snowy weather after the abnormally cold and icy winter we’ve experienced here in North Texas.

I have spring on my mind and I am ready for it to make a real appearance!

And, who couldn’t get inspired after seeing all of the beautiful spring inspiration, decor and projects from Monday’s Mega Link Party?

Here are just a few that caught my eye:

Heather 24

Isn’t the heather just beautiful that Faded Charm grows in her yard?  She shared a peak of her backyard with a lovely little vignette.  I adore that old French basket and the vintage watering can.

Jennifer, at Town and Country Living shows how easy and beautiful a simple tulip arrangement is to bring in to your own space.

Don’t tulips just scream “spring?”

I am always swooning over the pretty nests that bloggers use to decorate with during the spring.  Where in the world do they get them?

Yvonne at Stone Gable showed us how to make our own!  Can you believe she made that lovely little nest?

I’m definitely giving it a try.

You can find more inspiration by visiting the link party — we had so many wonderful things shared that it’s impossible to re-cap them all.

Have a wonderful Saturday!

Spring Tablescape and The Scoop’s Mega Linky Party

I think the entire U.S. is going to breath a collective sigh of relief and joy when spring finally makes its appearance this year.  It has been a long, stormy and cold winter across almost the entire nation.

My kids stayed home from school today because of an ice/sleet storm yesterday and subsequent icy roads.  I think the school year will be going well in to June due to the number of ice days this winter.

All of that is to say that we are more than ready for spring around here!

I found a few things as I was shopping the other day to lift me out of the winter doldrums.

Today, I put together a little spring tablescape for two with my finds.

I found this little pot of  white muscari (grape hyacinth) at the grocery store and couldn’t resist.

muscari

It’s still growing and blooming so I think I’ll be able to enjoy this for awhile.

I just love bulbs in the spring, don’t you?

I found these cute little silver buckets at Target in the dollar section.  I think they’re so fun!

I mixed my brown transferware plates with some pink salad plates I found at Home Goods last year and put them atop my wicker chargers I bought at World Market last fall.

I love the texture of the chargers, they remind me a little of a nest.

I love the freshness and the colors of spring.  And, if the weather is cooperating, we’ll just make it spring indoors!

Spring Is Here!

It’s been crazy busy lately.  So busy I’ve barely stopped to notice my surroundings.

Then, on my walk back from bringing my daughter to school, I saw it…

Spring is here!

I know many of you are still in the middle of snow storms and spring seems so far away, but if it’s happening here, it will be on your way soon.

Until then, I hope you enjoy some of my pictures.

Last week, I noticed the vine around our pool equipment had little flower buds on it, but today they’re really starting to pop!

It’s a spring bloomer only, so I really look forward to seeing this vine awash in yellow bell-shaped flowers.

Just seeing them makes me happy!

Our Red Bud tree is also starting to show little blooms, too!  It’s also a favorite sight in the spring!

I wasn’t sure my Forsythia was going to make it through the crazy hot heat last summer, so I’m so happy to see little blooms starting to appear!

Even my little Grape Hyacinth is starting to bloom.  It’s only a few inches high, but beautiful all the same.

And, one final little surprise in the garden this morning…

My daughter must have put these here yesterday when I was working on my Easter mantel.  I didn’t know she put them in the flower bed!  They’re so small. The egg is a little bigger than an actual egg, so that bunny is only about an inch tall.  It’s a nice little surprise, I think!

I’m excited to see more things pop up and bloom in the yard!  I love Spring!

Happy Spring to you all!
