Six Inspiring Spring Ideas

Hello! I’m so happy you are here today!  Spring is arriving early here in North Texas, but even if it’s still cold and winter-y where you live, it’s not too soon to start bringing Spring indoors!

Today, I’ve teamed up with some of my blog friends to bring you some of our favorite Spring posts.  I hope you find them as inspiring as I do!

Valentine’s Day Paper Flowers Craft

Whether you love, hate or are indifferent towards Valentine’s Day, I think you may still find my latest craft idea interesting.  It can easily be adjusted for any time of year or holiday!

My kids love it when I decorate a little for each holiday so I make an effort to do a little something with hearts and red accents this time of year.

I originally set out to do something completely different with my paper muffin cups but then I came up with this Valentine’s Day paper flowers craft idea.  It’s so simple and adds a fun punch of color for the holiday.

Creating a Holiday Floral Arrangement & a Giveaway!

If there is one thing I love any time of the year, it’s a fresh flower arrangement.

Real flowers and greenery just make me swoon!

Of course, the least inexpensive way to get a pretty fresh floral arrangement is to buy a  bunch at a place like Trader Joe’s or Costco then arrange it yourself.

However, not everyone has a knack for arranging flowers themselves.

Sometimes things move around as you try to arrange the bouquet and things just don’t stay where you intended to put them.

Last week, I had the opportunity to try something new.

It’s called a Budable and it is a rubbery, stretchy topper that works on almost any size vase.  It is intended to take the place of floral foam and, I have to say that it worked pretty well.

Fresh Herb Bouquets

It rained again yesterday and the week before that it rained, too.

That might not sound like a big deal to many of you, but rain during the summer in Texas is usually a little out of the ordinary.

But this year has been anything but ordinary!

My yard has never been so green and lush.

When we came home from visiting my parents in Minnesota last week we found that our yard was a bit out of control!

My herbs, in particular, needed a substantial pruning. Some had begun to flower and others were wild and unruly.

When I do a big pruning like this, I’m left with an abundance of fresh herbs. Of course, I could give some away to friends, family and neighbors (and I do!) but here’s another suggestion – make herb bouquets!

Summer Living Room Décor {Welcome Home Tour}

The rain finally stopped and the sun came out this weekend.  It was glorious!  On Sunday, we actually sat by the pool, grilled out and hung out on the patio for the first time in months.  It finally feels like summer is here and I am elated!

Just in time, too.  The kids get out of school on Friday and today I’m joining my friends for a special Summer tour — the Welcome Home Summer Tour sponsored by our friends at Balsam Hill.
