I can hardly believe summer is almost here. I have lived in Texas for 20 years and this is the coolest, wettest spring I have experienced since I moved here.
Even though it doesn’t feel like it, summer is on it’s way so I decided it was time to make it look more like summer in the house.
One of the first places I started is on my coffee table.
Because my house is so open I don’t have a lot of places to display treasures, so my coffee table is one surface I like to get looking it’s best.
I added a rustic feel with a wine barrel tray (from Balsalm Hill), a galvanized lantern (from Target) and a classic white pitcher (from Home Goods) filled with lavender. I think this combination gives the table that farmhouse look that I love.
What I love most about the lantern is the flameless candle. It is from Balsam Hill and it has been such a great addition to this room. The weather is so gloomy and the flickering flame gives the room a wonderful glow.
My daughter helped me make this short video so you can see how the candle works and how real it looks. My kids think it’s the coolest thing ever!
When creating beautiful vignettes remember these 4 elements:
- varying heights
- color
- texture
- layers
I’ll be sharing more of my summer décor next week.

Today I’m thankful for shelter from the rain, cozy candle light, and my helpful and smart kids.
I was provided the wine barrel cheese tray and the Luminara flameless candle from Balsam Hill, however, all opinions are my own.

Beautiful summer vignette Julie. I have always loved the look of the Luminara candles. Great products from Balsam Hill.
Thank you, Shirley!
I have a number of frameless candles but I’ve never seen any with a remote control! How cool is that?

Your coffee table vignette looks so pretty and love your styling tips! I have never seen a remote control candle, that is so cool and great video. I need to go check those out, would love a few for my porch! Sorry to hear about all of the rain you are having.
