Simple Christmas Tablescape
I began collecting Christmas dishes before I got married. At first, I had a serving piece or two and then I decided to start collecting the place settings when I got married.
It is Spode Christmas tree and I still love it.
We usually use it when we host guests during the holidays, but this year we are not having any holiday dinners or out-of-town guests at our house. So, I decided to switch out my every day dishes with the Spode so we can enjoy using it throughout the Christmas season. Why wait for guests?
I am really enjoying using my pretty dishes every day and so is my family!

Christmas Kitchen Tour {Christmas in Texas Tour}
Welcome to the Christmas in Texas blog tour! If you’re visiting from Poofing the Pillows, welcome! (Of course, a big welcome back to my regular readers, too.) I am so glad you’re here!
I am so excited to be taking part in this very special Christmas tour. My sweet, real-life blogger friend, Stacey from Poofing the Pillows invited me to take part and I’m excited to get to know some Texas bloggers better.
Today, I’m giving you a little tour of my Christmas kitchen.
There is no doubt that our kitchen is my favorite place in our home.
Not just because we remodeled it a little over a year ago, but because it is most definitely the heart of our house.
The kids do homework here, we make crafts and work on projects in this room, we socialize around the island and, of course, we do a lot of cooking and baking.
Truthfully, I didn’t do that much decorating in here this year. I am definitely in a “less is more” phase right now so I just added a few fun touches here and there. (more…)

Kitchen Chair Makeover {IKEA Gingham Fabric}
This week my kids went back to school and our relaxed daily schedule went out the window. Now we are all trying to get back to a regular routine and — I’ll be honest — it is hard!
Nonetheless, school is here and even though I miss our lazy summer days, I am a little excited to get back to work on some of the projects I started and/or planned before school ended in early June.
One quick project I managed to complete is my kitchen chair makeover. Well, it’s kind of a makeover.
I used BERTA RUTA fabric in grey from IKEA to recover the old leather seat. (more…)

Marble Counters: What Everyone Needs to Know {Part 4}
So when I left you last, I told you about my disastrous marble bar top and the muriatic acid disaster created by Fabricator #2. If you are just joining this series, you can read the complete story of my marble counter top saga by clicking these links: Part One, Part Two, Part Three. Today’s post won’t make much sense until you read the others!
First, let me tell you that Fabricator #2 did not completely destroy the island by using the muriatic acid. (more…)

This next leg of the journey – in many ways – proved to be every bit as frustrating as the first part.
