This week my kids went back to school and our relaxed daily schedule went out the window. Now we are all trying to get back to a regular routine and — I’ll be honest — it is hard!
Nonetheless, school is here and even though I miss our lazy summer days, I am a little excited to get back to work on some of the projects I started and/or planned before school ended in early June.
One quick project I managed to complete is my kitchen chair makeover. Well, it’s kind of a makeover.
I used BERTA RUTA fabric in grey from IKEA to recover the old leather seat.
I decided I needed to bring a little bit of grey in the breakfast area and you know how much I love gingham!
Here’s what the chairs looked like before:
They came from my grandma’s house — actually, they came from my great grandma’s house so they are really old. The leather seat has virtually no cushion and I was ready for something to freshen them up.
I added some padding on top the old leather, wrapped it with quilt batting and then stapled it in to place. Then I added the fabric and was done! It really is an easy and quick update. You can see how I re-upholster chairs in this post.
It’s not a huge makeover, but it does give the chairs a fresh, new look. If you’re looking for an inexpensive, easy and quick update, recovering a chair is a great way to do it!
*By the way, this is not a sponsored post, I just wanted to share my fabric source with you!
Love the gingham, I decorate with it in every room!!!
I love it, too Donna! I have it in quite a few spaces as well! 🙂
Have a wonderful day!
You did a great job! They look wonderful, and I love the look and colors of the whole area – thank you so much for sharing. You have inspired me to do the same to my dining room chairs, they are sadly in need!
