Simple Christmas Tablescape
I began collecting Christmas dishes before I got married. At first, I had a serving piece or two and then I decided to start collecting the place settings when I got married.
It is Spode Christmas tree and I still love it.
We usually use it when we host guests during the holidays, but this year we are not having any holiday dinners or out-of-town guests at our house. So, I decided to switch out my every day dishes with the Spode so we can enjoy using it throughout the Christmas season. Why wait for guests?
I am really enjoying using my pretty dishes every day and so is my family!

Oh Christmas Tree
I love all of the little details of homes decorated for Christmas. I love all the pretty little vignettes and the tables set for family dinners, I love the lights on houses and the smells and scents of the season. However, there is nothing quite like the Christmas tree.
It is by far my favorite decoration. After all, it is a huge focal point!
Until last year, my husband and I always had a fake tree even though I have always adored real trees the best. We can’t cut our own where we live (unlike where I grew up) and I was always afraid the real ones wouldn’t last and I’d be stressing out or disappointed.
Last year, we set up our 9-foot pre-lit tree like we always did. Then two weeks before Christmas, half of the lights went out.
My very handy husband who fixes just about everything couldn’t fix it. He called the manufacturer who informed us the tree had been recalled so we could return it for a full refund. We dismantled the tree and boxed it back up.
There was just one problem. It was so close to Christmas 9-foot pre-lit fake trees were hard to come by.
We went to a local farmer’s market and found the most beautiful real 9-foot Fraser Fir tree for 50% off. It was beautiful. We loved it so much we didn’t want to take it down after Christmas.
It was enthusiastically unanimous that we could get another real tree this year.
I love the shape, I love the smell and most of all, I love how it welcomes us home.
Even with our leaning star topper, I love it!
Are you a real tree or a faux tree familly?
Wishing you a beauty-filled day,

Our Family Christmas Tree
I think our Christmas tree is my family’s absolute favorite Christmas decoration.
Sure, they love the outdoor Christmas lights, their Christmas stockings and the Elf on the Shelf, but the first thing they immediately ask about after Thanksgiving is the Christmas tree.
“When are we going to put up the tree?!”
And, as much as I love a perfectly decorated tree like one of these:
Country Living
Pottery Barn
My tree is less polished and more random, but I like it just the same.
Just like my family-themed holiday mantel, my Christmas tree is family-themed as well.
The tree is filled with family memories and momentos from Christmases past.
Like the ornament we bought on our skiing honeymoon.
And, ornaments the kids painted when they were really small and couldn’t stay inside the lines.
I also have little hand print ornaments.
I used to take the kids to our local paint-your-own-pottery place every year to make these special ornaments. Last year, they didn’t want to go. 🙁
I have hand-made personalized ornaments and some with pictures.
And, I like to add ornaments that show the things we like.
My son used to be absolutely nuts about trains!
We also have an heirloom ornament or two.
This little porcelain Santa belonged to my husband’s grandmother.
And, we have some fun, too. A few pairs of these crazy glasses are tucked into the tree branches. When you put them on, the tree lights look like Santas or snowmen or angels.
The kids love them!
Our tree is plump full of fond Christmas memories. It’s so much fun when we open up our ornament boxes to see what’s in there. No wonder the kids love our tree!
And, I like it too.
