Simple Fall Decorating {Fall in Love with Texas Blog Tour}

You can barely tell it’s fall here in Texas because the heat made it’s way back here this week. (Insert sad face emoji and maybe even a few tears!)

Even so, there’s no stopping my fellow Texas bloggers and me from ushering in the season — even when Mother Nature refuses to cooperate.

Today, I’m so happy to be joining a group of talented Texas women who are sharing their fall decor with you!  I want to extend a special thank you to Katie at Let’s Add Sprinkles who wrangled all of us together and organized this fun fall tour!

Simple Farmhouse-style Dessert Tablescape

Friends, can you believe it’s already mid-July?!  Not only that…it’s the second Wednesday of the month, so that means it’s already time for another round of “It’s All Set” — the monthly tablescape event featuring several of my favorite blog friends!

It's All Set - Monthly Tablescape Inspiration

I am having so much fun with this monthly feature and I hope you are too!

This month, my inspiration came from a cheery vintage tablecloth I bought at Round Top a few years ago for just a few dollars.

It reminds me of my grandma — my mom’s mother.  The colors are just so cheerful and the style reminds me of her.  I’m not exactly sure why because I don’t recall her having a tablecloth like this one.  Something about it made me think of her when I saw it.  Maybe it’s the bits of yellow like the yellow floral wallpaper she had in her bathroom or the yellow chenille bedspread in her guest room.  Or, maybe it’s the pops of red like the old red-rimmed white enamelware she had from her parents farmhouse.  Or maybe it’s the cheerful floral pattern itself.  Whatever the reason, it spoke to me and made me think of her so I bought it.

I had almost forgotten about it tucked away in a basket in my kitchen.  So, when I was trying to come up with a theme for this month’s tablescape, I remembered the tablecloth.  I decided it was the perfect backdrop for creating a small table in honor of my grandma, her wonderful baking and her welcoming style.

My grandma was the best at making desserts and her style was always simple and always welcoming!  And, taking center stage was the food — it was the main attraction, no question. (more…)

Remodeling a Kitchen on a Budget

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Kohler for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.

When we remodeled our kitchen over a year ago, we did our best to stick to a budget.

kitchen makeover reveal

I’ll be honest, it was challenging!  There were so many choices to make — lighting, cabinet hardware, paint colors, appliances, counter tops and faucets.

I realize our budget was large compared to some, but budgets are budgets and they take some work to keep on track.   (more…)

Vintage-look Wooden Crate Tray

I would love to have an old vintage crate sitting on my kitchen counter but I just couldn’t find the right size, shape and color I was looking for.

I like to keep some spices and cooking oils handy next to the stove and I wanted to corral them in a cute vintage wood tray/crate.  But, try as I might the right one remained elusive.

Then I was shopping at the craft store one day and saw the perfect size wooden crate tray that was unfinished.

Christmas Home Tour 2015 {Busy Girls Tour}

I hate to admit it, but this year I just didn’t feel very inspired to decorate for Christmas.

I’m not sure if it was because we had hot weather for so long and it just didn’t feel like the holiday season, or if it was because the thought of dragging out all of the Christmas boxes was a little daunting. Or maybe it was because life has been so crazy busy lately!

Whatever the reason, I finally snapped got my holiday cheer on and started getting excited about decorating.

Today I’m thrilled to finally be sharing my Christmas home with you along with four of my friends — you might recognize them from the Share it One More Time Link party — they’re my co-hosts — and, like me, they’re BUSY!
