Summer Tablescape {It’s All Set}
Happy day, school is out!
The arrival of June means the lazy days of summer break are here. Almost.
We have a big project going on in our backyard that I’m excited to share with you soon. I had hoped it would have been done by now, but with all the rain we have experienced here in Texas, our project has taken weeks longer than expected so our backyard isn’t looking so lovely right now.
As a result, today’s summer tablescape that I’m sharing as part of the monthly, “It’s All Set” tablescape series, is indoors — not out on my back patio as I had hoped.
But, that’s okay, because even though it wasn’t what I planned I love how it turned out.
I wanted to create a table using what I already have, yet make it feel fresh and airy like summer. (Now that I think about it, however, it’s rarely “fresh and airy” during a Texas summer – ha!) (more…)

A Little Grace
Happy Belated Mother’s Day to all you moms! I hope you had a wonderful day.
I spent the day resting and relaxing — it was just what I needed. My sweet daughter served me breakfast and gave me a book and a poem she made just for me.
My son no longer makes me home-made gifts now that he’s in middle school, but he still gives me great hugs and tells me he loves me so I can’t ask for more than that. Plus, flowers. They know how much I love flowers, so this bunch of hydrangeas makes me happy. (more…)

This & That
Sometimes you just have to savor the little things in life and this week I took special note of a few things that made my day a little brighter.
The other morning when I was in the shower I realized just how much I love this particular part of my morning routine — most especially using this stuff:
It’s L’Occitane’s Almond Shower Oil. It leaves my skin feeling soft, but better yet, it smells divine. I do love great smelling skin products and this does not disappoint!
While browsing through my iPhone pictures I ran across several I took at my parent’s cabin in northern Minnesota this summer.
My mom is a great container gardener. I love how she makes such colorful combinations. They’re so bright and cheerful. They make me happy just looking at them!
This year she started a little garden where they had to cut down a tree a few years ago.
It’s such a happy little place. It just proves that gardens don’t have to be large to be beautiful.
Of course, a sweeping array of the same plant is always stunning.
I sure wish I could grow hydrangeas like that here!
Finally, I just have to share my daughter’s amazing creativity (I’m not biased or anything).
While at the craft store this week, she spotted the embroidery hoops and asked if I would buy one for her. She told me she had the perfect craft for it. When she explained her idea I agreed and then we picked up a few other supplies. Within an hour of getting home she made this:
A dream catcher!
She makes me so proud!
What are the little things in your life this week? Anything making your day/week?
