Happy day, school is out!
The arrival of June means the lazy days of summer break are here. Almost.
We have a big project going on in our backyard that I’m excited to share with you soon. I had hoped it would have been done by now, but with all the rain we have experienced here in Texas, our project has taken weeks longer than expected so our backyard isn’t looking so lovely right now.
As a result, today’s summer tablescape that I’m sharing as part of the monthly, “It’s All Set” tablescape series, is indoors — not out on my back patio as I had hoped.
But, that’s okay, because even though it wasn’t what I planned I love how it turned out.
I wanted to create a table using what I already have, yet make it feel fresh and airy like summer. (Now that I think about it, however, it’s rarely “fresh and airy” during a Texas summer – ha!)
That’s okay — it’s fresh and airy inside! And, for me hydrangeas are ALWAYS a good choice. That’s true for blue and white, too!
However, this time I added a small twist to my blue and white.
I mixed it up with my brown Spode Delamere transferware plates. It just seemed like the right thing to do!
The blue and white salad plates were thrift store finds. There are no markings on the back so I have no idea where they are made or by whom.
I decided to use woven chargers instead of place mats. To break up the wood of the table I added a simple, small crocheted runner that I’ve had for years.
This was such an easy table to put together, and the only thing new is the fresh flowers!

I’m joining with 4 other bloggers to bring you this monthly tablescape series.

So pretty, love brown and blue together and have it throughout my home…love the buffalo check too and of course the touches of blue and white are always a sure thing:) Beautiful job!
Thank you, Tina! You are such a master at pairing these colors so your compliment is all the sweeter! 🙂
What a lovely table, Julie! The perfect balance of elegance and casual ease… 🙂 It works so well with your room, too. Love that centerpiece!!
Thank you, Lory! Unfortunately, my cats like that centerpiece, too — it wasn’t looking so fresh this morning! Ugh – lol!!
Your whole room looks great. I just love the plant in the blue and white piece on the dough bowl. Beautiful.
Thanks so much, Ellis! That plant really seems to thrive in this room. 🙂
Julie, your dining room is beautiful. I love your chairs! I’ve always been a fan of brown transferware and you’ve paired it beautifully with the blue and white.
Thanks so much, Jennifer!
Julie, Your dining room is gorgeous! I love the window on the buffet and the plates on the wall and the little blue and white bowl filled with a fluffy plant and the chairs and the wall color… I could go on and on! Perfection!!!!!
We seem to have a blue and white theme today, all with a different twist. I love blue and white and brown. My master bedroom that we are soon making over is going to be a mix of those colors.
Beautiful table! I could sit right down as long as you have the air conditioning going!
Thank you, Yvonne! The air conditioning doesn’t stop running all summer, so it’s nice and cool inside! lol
I can’t wait to see your master bedroom makeover – knowing you, it will be a stunner!
Visiting from Yvonne’s. Beautiful table scape. Love the mix of plates.
Thank you, Lauren! I’m so glad you stopped by – I hope to see you here again soon!
So very beautiful Julie and you know how much I so love your dining room!
Thank you, Shirley — you are always so sweet with your kind words!
I love absolutely everything about your dining room and I am especially fond of Spode, which I have and use all the time. Thank you for sharing. I love this series idea.
Blessings,
Patti
