If there is one thing I love any time of the year, it’s a fresh flower arrangement.
Real flowers and greenery just make me swoon!
Of course, the least inexpensive way to get a pretty fresh floral arrangement is to buy a bunch at a place like Trader Joe’s or Costco then arrange it yourself.
However, not everyone has a knack for arranging flowers themselves.
Sometimes things move around as you try to arrange the bouquet and things just don’t stay where you intended to put them.
Last week, I had the opportunity to try something new.
It’s called a Budable and it is a rubbery, stretchy topper that works on almost any size vase. It is intended to take the place of floral foam and, I have to say that it worked pretty well.
Here is my first try using the Budable:
I used this arrangement for the kids table at Thanksgiving and I think it looked so pretty and festive!
Truthfully, my first attempt was a little messy. I didn’t realize that cranberries float (in fact, I just learned that they grow in a bog — am I the last person on earth to know that?!) so I slopped water all over the place and then the Budable didn’t stick so well.
Tip #1: Make sure the mouth of your vase is dry!
Once I dried off the mouth, arranging was pretty simple. I just poked a flower in a hole and kept filling it up.
Tip #2: Turn the vase as you go so you get a uniform shape. (I tend to forget this and get a lopsided arrangement.)
Tip #3: The Budable is visible if you don’t have flowers spilling over the edge of the vase. Wide, wired ribbon is the perfect way to cover it up!
I have a package of 3 Budables to give away to one lucky reader! Just leave a comment below and I’ll put your name in to a drawing. Deadline for entries is this Friday, December 4 at 6 p.m. Central Standard Time.
You can also order Budables on their web site. They would make a great stocking stuffer for friends and family who love fresh flowers!
*****THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED. WINNER WILL BE ANNOUNCED ON SUNDAY, DEC. 5, 2015 AT 7 AM CENTRAL TIME
** This is a sponsored post by Budables but all opinions are my own.
Love the arrangement and your home!
A fun way to arrange flowers!
Julie – Thanks for the introduction to an intriguing product. I have used a frog before but this product is neat because it’s the same concept that can be used in a vase. Love it!
Love your blog. I too swoon over fresh floral arrangements. Large or small, I love them all!
Sherry
What an ingenious invention! I can use all the help available arranging flowers. I am going to show this to my daughter as a hint.
Your bouquet came out beautifully, Julie.
Love the bouquet! The cranberries add a special touch for the holidays.
What a cool idea! I’ve never seen anything like it, but it makes so much sense. Thanks for sharing. I’ve always felt I do a horrible job of flower arranging. Yours looks fabulous!
Beautiful! What a clever idea!
What a great idea!!! Love it!
What a wonderful idea! Just what I need to make arrangements in my larger mouth vases.
Your arrangements are just beautiful …never heard of this product what a cleaver idea…
I “inherited” an ancient frog from my mom that works wonderfully for small arrangements, but this Budable would allow for expert results with a larger bouquet. Would love to try it out with a holiday arrangement!
Nice!!!
How pretty. I can never get mine to look right. What a trick this is..
What a awesome way to learn how to make flower arrangements that look great. This seems so much better than the foam to me.
I have a set of Budables too! I love mine. Keeps all the stems just where I want them. Good idea on the stocking stuffer I should get a few more.
Live the arrangement!! Very fallish & festive! The the silicone arrangement aid ROCKS!! My Sis could use the help!! She doesn’t have that ” flower arranging gene!” Wish u could have thought of it!! I showed my Sis to use clear tape… Is messy…. Hoping to get my hands in some… Will share!!
Thanks!! Happy arranging!! Now if I could be sure she wouldn’t accidentally dispose of it!! Ha ha!!
Oops … Love…
Your flower arrangement looks lovely. Thank you for the chance to win the Budable!
What a great idea! Your flowers look pretty.
Blessings
Like this concept much better than my frogs. I have tried floral tape to making criss-cross patterns across the vase but I like how this goes over the edges much better. Thanks for sharing!
Your attempts at floral arranging are beautiful!
I always enjoy reading your blog. Thank you for such inspiration!
Finally, I can use some help with flower arranging. I appreciate the giveaway!
Love your beautiful flower arrangement! I’ve been looking for ideas for a buffet centerpiece and other tabletop decorations for the annual Christmas Tea hosted by Women to the World, a faith-based nonprofit for which I’m a volunteer. The cranberries in a glass cylinder with flowers and greenery looks perfect! Will have to get a Budable (or win one). 🙂
What a great idea! I could use this whenever my wonderful husband brings home a bouquet of flowers!
That is so creative! I , too, love fresh arrangements but they are often lop-sided. This little gem would definitely fix that!
Great idea. I am one of those people that can’t seem to arrange flowers. This would be great to have.
That is too cool. Love to win. Thanks for the review.
What a great idea. Thanks for sharing and the give away!
Merry Christmas!
Sandy
Your arrangement looks so great! I’ve never even heard of one of those but I want one! LOL
I love your style!!! And these are no exception to the beautiful pieces you create….thanks for a chance to win!!!
Oooh what a lovely giveaway I would LOVE to win one!
I haven’t heard of Budables before, but these look awesome! I always struggle with making my own arrangements – one of these would really come in handy!
What a fun and doable arrangement. Thanks for the giveaway.
I often make a grid with cellophane tape but this would be so much easier! I would love to win one.
These are wonderful!
I love the idea of this. I have always wanted to make a better floral arrangement and this looks ideal. I love your example.
Meet the second last person on the face of the earth who didnt know that cranberries grow in a bag!
Your floral arrangement is beautiful!
