I have mentioned several times over the last few weeks that simple is my motto — particularly when it comes to decorating my home for the seasons/holidays.
Well, in keeping with that motto, I’m sharing the easiest fall decor idea ever. In fact, it’s so simple and easy I almost feel silly sharing it.
But, I also love it. And, that’s why I’m passing the idea along. It’s for all of you who love easy, simple and pretty.
Ready? Here goes.
All you need is a plate, a dry erase marker and a small easle.
I bought my pretty little blue and white transferware plate at the thrift store last year. It was $1.
Last fall, I tucked some of my blue and white thrifted plates in to a fall centerpiece and I loved it so much I knew I wanted to use blue and white plates again alongside some orange. It’s such a striking combination — as they should be since they are complimentary colors!
The wonderful thing about using a dry erase marker is that you can keep practicing your writing until you get it just right. Just use a damp paper towel to erase your mistakes and you can start all over again!
Just make sure the plate you’re using has a good glazed finish. If it has cracks and/or crazing, the marker could seep through and could damage the plate. If you’re unsure, test a small area on the back before attempting to write on the front of the plate.
Today’s project is part a fall-themed blog hop featuring bloggers who post decor, craft, gardening and home improvement projects to Hometalk — a fantastic home and garden resource on the web. You can find me on Hometalk here.

What a great and simple idea. There are so many different things that could be written on a plate with a dry erase marker!
