We had a crazy busy week at our house.
Just as we were getting settled in to our school routine, my son began Cross Country (the long distance running team) after school. He now has practice every day until 5 p.m. and they are averaging 2-3 miles of running per practice. In addition, he plays on a year-round soccer team (that is not affiliated with the school) which practices twice a week from 7-9 p.m. It’s a lot for a 12-year-old! I’m so proud of how he managed to get his school work done and get through this aggressive schedule this week. I’m amazed at the resilience of children…he is hardly phased by the amount of physical activity he has each day and I even found him out in the backyard kicking the soccer ball after his first day of Cross Country!
The addition of Cross Country just elevated my part-time taxi driver status to almost a full-time level! As a result, I’m having to bring my A-game when it comes to meal planning.
I have mentioned this app before on the blog, but I don’t think I’ve ever formally introduced it. It’s called “Big Oven” and I use it a lot!
It’s available on iPhone, iPad, Android and Windows phone. (I have no affiliation with Big Oven but am sharing it because I really like it.)
You can put in up to 3 ingredients you have to work with and it will offer recipe suggestions. When you find a recipe you like you can save it to your own recipe list.
It has all kinds of neat features and I haven’t even tapped in to it fully, but I have found several recipes that we like and use often. (I shared home-made taco seasoning here.)
Another discovery I want to share with you is Lonny.com.
Am I the only person who is just now discovering this beautiful publication?
I found it when I stumbled across this lovely home tour in the Hamptons.
Lonny features some very beautiful home tours and the photography is amazing. Some homes are modern, others traditional or casual. All of them beautifully photographed. It’s definitely worth a look if you’re a dwelling lover like me!
Finally, I saw this quote the other day and decided that I’m definitely a “4 quarters” kind of person.
Actually, I think I’ve always been a “4 quarters” sort of person. I’m not an extrovert (although I can be when necessary) and I have always preferred having a few close friends.
What about you? Are you a social butterfly or more of an introvert like me?”
Wishing you a beautiful weekend ~
Hi Julie!
Just found your blog the other day and LOVE it! Your home is beautiful and so unique. I have a question for you if I may. I am looking for a new leather sofa, and your brown leather sofa is exactly what I am looking for. Can you tell me where you bought it or the name of the manufacturer? I am definitely a 4 quarters person, always have been too! I am not a social butterfly, funny I have a sister who is just the opposite.
Thanks so much if you are able to give me the info on your leather sofa.
