Summer Decorating Inspiration
We all refer to the “lazy days of summer” but I often find they can be just as busy as the rest of the year.
True, we are busy doing more “relaxing” activities like going to the movies, swimming in the pool, and enjoying the outdoors but we are busy nonetheless.
This is the time of year, however, when I try to keep all my busy activities away from the computer. It’s a time to be with my kids and focus on fun, active stuff.
But, friends, I couldn’t help myself this past week. If you stopped by here, you know I was part of a fantastic tour of blog homes — the bHome Summer Open House tour. It showcased 31 blogger homes, and y’all — they were AMAZING! And, I’m not just saying that.
I am so very truly honored to have taken part in the tour with this talented group, and I am also proud to be a blog featured on the bHome App with them as well. If you have not yet downloaded the app on your iPhone (Android is coming very, very soon!) I hope you’ll give it a try. If you love everything home and garden, you will love this app! Plus, you could win a $200 gift card to Painted Fox Treasures — details are at the end of this post.
If you missed this week’s Summer Open House tour I’ve got a few highlights to get you motivated to click for more:
This bright space is from Laura at Top This Top That. Her home is so pretty, warm and welcoming — just like Laura!

This & That {Friday Eye Candy}
What a crazy, hectic week it was around here!
First, my house is a hot mess, I have several unfinished projects going on at once and, girl, I need to get my roots done and my hair cut!
The kids had school off on Monday and Tuesday because of ice so hardly anything got done in terms of cleaning up, but I did get a good start on a painting project while they were outside sliding around on the ice.
I put the finishing touches on it late yesterday and I am so happy with how it turned out! (If you follow me on Instagram you know I used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. It’s my first project using the color, Coco, and I am loving it!) I’ll be sharing it with you very, very soon.
I also did another spring project and I worked on my Spring Mantel which I’ll be posting about along with several of my blogger friends on Wednesday.
I have so many things in the works but no pictures of my own today!
But, I can’t leave you without some pretty pictures, so how about I show you some of my favorite eye candy I ran across this week?!
This family room from Sarah Richardson Design reminds me why I love her so much! She effortlessly marries modern with vintage and eclectic and it is just so darn classy and pretty. Oh, and her fabric choices just get me every. single. time. She always puts things together that I wouldn’t have thought of. I do love that girl.

This & That
We had a crazy busy week at our house.
Just as we were getting settled in to our school routine, my son began Cross Country (the long distance running team) after school. He now has practice every day until 5 p.m. and they are averaging 2-3 miles of running per practice. In addition, he plays on a year-round soccer team (that is not affiliated with the school) which practices twice a week from 7-9 p.m. It’s a lot for a 12-year-old! I’m so proud of how he managed to get his school work done and get through this aggressive schedule this week. I’m amazed at the resilience of children…he is hardly phased by the amount of physical activity he has each day and I even found him out in the backyard kicking the soccer ball after his first day of Cross Country!
The addition of Cross Country just elevated my part-time taxi driver status to almost a full-time level! As a result, I’m having to bring my A-game when it comes to meal planning.
I have mentioned this app before on the blog, but I don’t think I’ve ever formally introduced it. It’s called “Big Oven” and I use it a lot!
It’s available on iPhone, iPad, Android and Windows phone. (I have no affiliation with Big Oven but am sharing it because I really like it.)
You can put in up to 3 ingredients you have to work with and it will offer recipe suggestions. When you find a recipe you like you can save it to your own recipe list.
It has all kinds of neat features and I haven’t even tapped in to it fully, but I have found several recipes that we like and use often. (I shared home-made taco seasoning here.)
Another discovery I want to share with you is Lonny.com.
Am I the only person who is just now discovering this beautiful publication?
I found it when I stumbled across this lovely home tour in the Hamptons.
Lonny features some very beautiful home tours and the photography is amazing. Some homes are modern, others traditional or casual. All of them beautifully photographed. It’s definitely worth a look if you’re a dwelling lover like me!
Finally, I saw this quote the other day and decided that I’m definitely a “4 quarters” kind of person.
Actually, I think I’ve always been a “4 quarters” sort of person. I’m not an extrovert (although I can be when necessary) and I have always preferred having a few close friends.
What about you? Are you a social butterfly or more of an introvert like me?”
Wishing you a beautiful weekend ~
