What did we do before Pinterest?
We actually got things done, that’s what.
Are you a compulsive pinner?
I wouldn’t call myself “compulsive” but I do love to browse and pin all the great inspiration.
And, I’ve been putting it to good use. I’ve been steadfastly working on finishing my dining room makeover.
Remember this mood board?
After months of work, it’s almost done. I will be revealing the makeover next week – woohoo!
Thanks for reading!
Happy Friday everyone!

What Did We Do Before Pinterest?
Yes, I’m still on the topic of Pinterest. I can’t help myself.
Today I saw this tip about removing hairspray from the bathroom.

What girl/woman doesn’t have this struggle? I’m going to give it a try and see what happens. Sometimes these tips seem so super-cool that they couldn’t possibly work.
I’ve shared some of the Pinterest tips I’ve tried in the past here on my blog. Once I blogged about kitchen lid organization and once about keeping your bathroom shower clean. Both ideas worked well.
I’m currently trying out this tip:

It’s about re-growing green onions from the ones you buy at the grocery store and cut all the way up to the white part of the onion.
I saved my used onions in a little egg cup on the window sill in my laundry room several weeks ago. Some of them were cut pretty short, too. (The hubs likes to eat the white part.)
And, honestly, I forgot about them quite a few times. But, I watered them whenever I remembered and here’s what they look like today:
It worked! I think I’ll try planting them in the garden and see what happens.
These cool household tips are just one of the many things I love about Pinterest. You can get creative, handy ideas that you may have never thought of before. Heck, this is what I love about the entire Internet! There’s a wealth of knowledge and information right at your fingertips just for the asking.
As a result, I’m not sure my kids even know what an Encylcopedia is. My parents used to say, “Look it up in an encyclopedia.” Today, we tell our kids, “Google it.” lol Yes, times have changed. And, I’m just old enough to really feel that last statement.
I saw this pin the other day and it made me laugh.
Good God Almighty, I hope this never happens! I might actually have to leave my computer or worse yet, my iPhone. It might as well be the end of the world.

Pinterest Inspired
I love Pinterest and I do a lot of pinning.

The thing is, I pin all of these beautiful images and then I kind of forget about them.
Today I started browsing through some of my pins and got inspired all over again. Here’s just a few of the things that caught my eye today:

I adore this basket! I wish I could grow bittersweet here. It just says “fall” to me. It’s just gorgeous the way this basket is styled with the pumpkin, kale, twigs and bittersweet.

What is not to love about this kitchen?! I love the floor, the ceiling, the island, the chandelier, the green door. Sigh. It’s beautiful!

I love galvanized containers filled with herbs and flowers. That little white cafe container is precious.

What a beautiful textile. I love all the colors and the shade of blue — so cheerful and happy.

I could go on and on, but here’s just one more. I love this cute little crate with the logs, greenery and lights — so perfect for the holidays.
If you want to see more of what inspires me, feel free to check out my boards on Pinterest. Happy pinning!

Pinterest Project #2 – Keeping the Shower Clean
I’ve pinned a lot of cool tips, projects and ideas on Pinterest but quite honestly I haven’t actually tried many of them. So I recently decided that it’s time I put some of these bright ideas to the test and then share the results with you.
A week or so ago I tried organizing my pot lids in my kitchen with a tension rod and although I couldn’t do this with every single lid I own, I do like the results.
So with that success, I browsed through my “Ideas I Like” Pinterest board and found another cool tip I’ve been wanting to try.
It involves this handy little kitchen dish wand. It will help you keep your shower clean Every. Single. Day. Wow. That’s my kind of tip!
I have a large shower in my master bathroom and I don’t like cleaning it. At all. It requires me to step inside to wash down the walls and all the glass. I don’t know why this seems so exhausting to me but I really, really don’t like doing it. It is my second least-favorite thing to clean in my house (the other is my husband’s study).
It’s an awesome shower — just not to clean. But, I think I’ve established that fact already.
The Pinterest tip says that you take the magical little dishwashing wand and fill it up with a solution of half Dawn dishwashing liquid and half white vinegar. Easy enough. Then, you just keep it in your shower so it’s handy when you’re done showering. I hung mine up on a hook using a ponytail holder/band.
Then, when you’re done showering you simply scrub the walls and floor and then rinse. Voila! When you step out of the shower both you and your shower are clean!
The first time I tried it I was super excited so I didn’t think about anything else that might be needed to complete the job. Since my shower is large, I cannot rinse off all areas using my shower head. So, the next time I showered I brought in a clean rag that I get wet and then wipe/rinse the soap off the walls. I absolutely LOVE this tip! My shower is clean all the time now. The only other thing I do to keep it clean is to vaccuum it out occasionally when it’s dry. Easy!
It’s hard to show a clean shower in a picture, but I assure you it is! Have you tried any great tips on Pinterest? I’d love to hear about them!
