It’s another rainy day here in Texas, but as I told you last week, the same kind of weather didn’t stop people from heading to the Magnolia Market in Waco to check out the beautiful shop and grounds created by the ever-popular Chip and Joanna Gaines.
In last week’s post, I showed you the inside of the shop and the outdoor eating area but I didn’t show you the cute little garden at Magnolia Market. I was saving it for it’s own special post!
It’s located on the Magnolia Market property next to the silos. It’s a small-ish fenced in area and it is just so quaint I fell in love with it!
If you’ve been following me on Instagram, you know that we just broke ground on a new back yard project and it couldn’t have happened at a better time. Many elements of this space are inspiring me in my own backyard!
First, the little fairy gardens:
There may have been others in the gardens that I missed but I was looking at so many other things I didn’t see them.
I have been wanting a fairy garden for a few years and after seeing these…there is definitely one in my future! I love the farmhouse look of these — too cute!
As you would expect, there are a lot of old, vintage treasures being re-purposed in the garden. I adore this old chicken feeder — I need one!
(Please forgive the off-center and not-so-great photos — these were all shot with my iPhone and, in many cases, I wasn’t so worried about aesthetics as I was about getting it all in view!)
In addition to being pretty, it does seem to be a “working” garden. They were growing some tomatoes and other herbs and veggies.
I love how they used old wood branches to support the tomatoes!
I absolutely adore the little farmhouse-style shed on the property. I have been bugging my husband for years about getting a shed. He always envisions a dilapidated old, pest-infested thing and, therefore, doesn’t want one. This little shed may have changed his mind! He agreed it was a good-looking shed he wouldn’t mind having on his property.
I wish I had more pictures. I think I was too busy looking at stuff that I forgot to take more.
For example, in the picture below, you can see there’s an old table on the right side of the porch. It was an old table turned planter — now, why didn’t I think to take a picture of it?!
By the way, the little seed & supply building will be home to a little garden shop. I will definitely be making it back to Waco when that happens!
It was fun visiting this popular spot. It’s a little crazy to those of us who live in Texas to imagine that Waco has become such a hot spot to visit for people around the U.S. (and I truly mean no disrespect to the town itself) Before the Gaines’ popularity Waco was known locally as the home of Baylor University and the biggest town on the way from Dallas to Austin. It wasn’t a hub of tourism. It’s nice to see that it has gained notoriety for something so positive and fun!
By the way, in addition to the garden store, Joanna’s bakery shop will be opening soon as well. I did not see a sign as to an approximate date but you can bet when it opens people will be lining up for a chance to sample those goodies!
Thanks for visiting today!
Thanks for the tour Julie…I am sure you enjoyed the garden shop..how cute are those Fairy Gardens!…
Julie,
Magnolia Market is such a phenomenon! I read that the store has 1.2 million visitors per year. With the new garden shop and the new bakery those numbers will only increase. I love this small-town success story.

I am always looking at olive buckets, but don’t really have a place for one inside. I never thought of planting something in one outside. Thanks for sharing your adventure.
