It’s time to start getting our porches and patios all ready for Independence Day celebrations. If you’re like me, you’ve seen so many of the cute little American flag pillows at pricey retailers. I’m always tempted by them but I just can’t justify the cost.
Last year I decided to make my own and, somehow, I never managed to post about it.
This little pillow was so simple to make!
I used an actual flag from one of those little cheapies you can find at Walmart or any place that sells little flags on a stick.
I just carefully took it off the stick, cut a piece of outdoor fabric the same size as the flag (to serve as the back of the pillow, sewed a seam around the edges and left a small opening so I could stuff the pillow with polyester fiberfill. I sewed up the edge and, voila! An easy little American flag pillow!
(You can see a full pillow making tutorial here.)
If you don’t sew, you could use this Double Sided Iron on Interfacing AdhesiveFusible Tape
I love this project because it’s easy, inexpensive and doesn’t take up much storage space when it’s not in use.
I think I might need to make some more!
So very cute and clever Julie!!! Looks great on the rocker!
