Decorating with Pitchers

There are some things in this world that just don’t make a lot of sense.

My affinity for pitchers is one of them.

I should correct myself and say that to me, my love for them makes perfect sense.  They’re cute and functional.  And they’re cute.  (I know I repeated myself, but it’s worth repeating.)  Beyond that, I’m not really sure why they make my heart go pitter-pat.  They just do.

I don’t really discriminate, I like them in colors or just plain white.  I also like glass pitchers.  They can be old or new.  It really doesn’t matter.  When I see a cute one, I would like to bring it home to live with me.  And, trust me, I’ve left more pitchers at the store than I have purchased simply because there is only so much room.  And money.

Some people think pitchers are just for holding drinks, but I think they can be so much more.  I have my small collection scattered about my house and I use them in many ways.

decorating with pitchers

I use mine:

  • as a vase
  • for serving water at a dinner party
  • serving syrup at breakfast
  • holding cream for coffee
  • as a cute chotchke for just about anywhere
  • holding kitchen utensils

I absolutely love using them for holding flowers — both faux and real.

They make even the most simple of floral arrangements look amazing.

I also have several pitchers displayed around the house.

I love them on my kitchen cabinets (I know I need to raise them up a little so they’re not so covered up by the crown molding).

My latest find is the aqua blue vase.  (I found it at Tuesday Morning)  It’s brand new but it looks vintage, don’t you think?

Next on my list is to find some transferware pitchers.  I’d love to add to my collection.

Do you have a collection you love?

    Hi Julie ~
I love pitchers as well, but I love the little ones. Everytime I see a tiny pitcher (one that you use as a single serving with cream for your coffee) I have to buy it.
Come to find out ~ my mom has the same feeling about these little guys.
My favorite place to find them is Home Goods.
    Have a wonderful day.
