Party Decorating Ideas: Ghosts & Ghouls Gathering Blog Tour

Every year my kids beg me to host a Halloween party and every year I somehow wiggle my way out of it.

This year, I’m making it happen in the online world.  I’m co-hosting a virtual Halloween party with my blogging buddies that we’re calling, “Ghosts and Ghouls Gathering” and you’re invited!  Today, I’m sharing some Halloween party decorating ideas.

When you visit each blog, you will find great ideas for putting together a great party of your own.  We are sharing decorations, recipes, drinks, invitations and other Halloween party ideas so you’ll have everything you need to throw an awesome ghoul-y and ghostly bash.

***

Welcome to my part of the tour — I’m showing you my Halloween decor.

I kept things simple, yet festive and didn’t go for the big ghoul-y and creepy side with bloody mummies or a haunted house theme.  My youngest is 8 and she thinks it’s too scary so my party decor works for every day decorating, a grown-up party or even a party for young kids.

Unfortunately, it’s been too rainy to set up our fun yard decorations.  We always have spider webs, giant spiders and tombstones in our front yard but at least we have our little Halloween wreath on the door to welcome you inside.

As I already mentioned, you won’t find any blood, gore or really scary stuff at my house.

This is as creepy as it gets.

If you look closely, you’ll see the picture on the table is a clothed skeleton sitting in a chair.  Or is it?  It changes from a real person to a skeleton depending on which way you look at it.  My daughter doesn’t like it and thinks it’s way too spooky!

To the right of the foyer is our dining room.  Come on in!

It is set up for a party where food is the center of attention.  Just imagine the table filled with some festive goodies like the kind two of the bloggers on our tour are sharing!

Right now I have treats on the table and some candy-eating ghosts have been eating them while I’ve been taking pictures.  I swear that jar of candy corn was filled to the top when I started!

The great thing about decorating for a Halloween party, is that you can totally do it on the cheap.

Many of our decorations are from the dollar store, Target’s Dollar Spot or we made them ourselves.

I only spent $10 this year — not including the pumpkins.

The kids and I painted these little paper mache skulls a couple of years ago — it was a great craft!

My big DIY chalkboard is ready for Halloween, too.

I did this free-hand while looking at an image I found online.  I know everyone can’t do that so I have a great trick for doing your own professional-looking chalkboard writing if you don’t feel comfortable writing free-hand.

I also have my kitchen set up ready for more food and drinks.  After all, isn’t that what everyone loves about a party – eating?!

I hung some little plastic bats from the chandelier using fishing line.  I used a small drill bit to drill a hole in the bat’s wing and tied them to the chandelier – it’s so easy and the whole display cost me one dollar.

Now it’s time to head on over to my party co-hosts to see what they’ve got in store for our Halloween bash.
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Julie – this is so, so cute. From the wreath (which I adore btw) right down to your tables – and especially that chalkboard. That is an amazing free-hand design. Your home is set up for a party now, so you might as well make your kiddos happy and have one. *wink Thanks for joining in…Barb
