This & That

A cool front finally blew through so now I’m really getting inspired to decorate for fall.

In addition, I have this lovely candle burning and it’s really getting me in the spirit!

My daughter and I found it at Bath & Body works.  We had some coupons so I got it for half price!

It has a fantastic aroma and it fills the room with scent almost immediately.  I’m picky about candles and this is a good one!

Because of our busy summer, I never really posted anything here on the blog about attending the Haven Conference in Atlanta in July.  For those of you who have never heard of it, it is a conference for home and DIY bloggers.  It is amazing!  Those who attend learn about how to be a better blogger, take part in hands-on DIY and crafting classes and, of course, there is the opportunity to meet other bloggers in our niche. (Please forgive my blurry iPhone pics.)

The funny thing about Haven for me was that I received so many compliments on my hair.  Yes, my hair!

I actually had people stop and tell me I had the best hair and wanted to know what products I use.  Isn’t that funny?  It certainly was a surprise to me but I was happy to share my hair secrets!

Yesterday, I bought a new can of hair spray so it made me think about Haven.  And, since so many people were curious about my hair spray choice there…why not share it with you?  I mean, it’s important for us girls to find good hair spray, don’t you think?!  lol

Yep, I use Pantene’s humidity control hair spray.  My hair is very thick and I have a lot of natural curl and wave that I blow out and style.  This hair spray keeps my hair in place, yet I can comb through it if I need to re-style and it really does help when the weather is humid.  The best part — which is the key for me to finding a good hair product — is that is washes out easily.  I’ve used other products that hold well but then stay like glue in your hair.  This doesn’t do that.  The other good part?  It’s not very expensive.  Believe me, I have paid a lot for hair spray and this is a price performer.  It was less than $6 at Walmart and it is a very large can of hair spray — look at that — 17 ounces!  Trust me, it lasts a long time.

Finally,  I want to share a few inspiring fall decorating pins I ran across this week.  A lot of people like to decorate with neutrals — which I do love — but for me, I am still drawn to those pops of orange here and there.  These are some good ones, I think.

(Please click on the pictures below to take you to the specific pin on Pinterest and then pin from there.)

I am slowly getting my fall decor up and will be sharing some as I go.  Then, I hope you’ll join me on September 22 when I join several other bloggers for a Fall Home Tour.  It’s going to be fun!

Until then, enjoy your weekend!

  1. I have that candle. Love bath and body work s candles. Smell so good. I agree about fall colors. Neutral is nice but fall is all about the rich beautiful colors . Must try that hair spray. Thanks for the tip.

  2. I know this blast of cold air has put me in the mood for fall decor too. I’ve got my pumpkin candle burning {different one from yours} and a big mess everywhere. I’ll be looking forward to seeing your fall home.

  3. Is anybody else slow to get Fall deco done? Can’t seem to get rolling yet. Maybe high 80′s temps have an effect, do ya think? Just can’t get motivated yet. Gets nice and cool at night but during day, it’s still summery.
I’ve been sick too so not as motivated to make a Fall deco mess as usual. Hubs did lots of vacuuming yesterday so we could get living room/other rooms cleaned up. Nothing was done while I was sick. Had really bad allergic reaction to excessive dose of penicillin (for ear infection) and am now still living with side effects, itching, lack of energy, no appetite, taster off whack. Had to quit taking any of meds/antibiotics prescribed at they made me sicker than dog.
Your hair is very pretty and can tell it’s thick and has natural wave. How nice that your hair was specially noticed and commented upon by attendees. Always nice to be made feel special. Have seen lots of great photos of many of ladies that attended and all looked like everybody having great time.
