I absolutely love the fresh greenery of Christmas. And, I especially love fresh Christmas wreaths made from evergreen cuttings.
Sure, I could buy them, but it doesn’t feel quite like Christmas without a craft or two and it costs next to nothing to make them yourself. I made a couple of green cypress wreaths for my front porch for about $5…total. Love that!
Here is how my DIY Christmas wreath turned out:
I love how they turned out.
I tied them with a simple red ribbon and hung them on my latest acquisition — door-sized shutters (these will be another painting or staining project in the future — for now, they sit as is on my front porch).
These wreaths are so easy to make and literally took me 30-45 minutes each including branch cutting/hunting time.
Here’s how you do it:
Supplies:
- wire wreath form
- floral tape
- pruning shears
- scissors
- ribbon
Directions:
1. Using pruning shears, clip small branches from any evergreen making sure you have small to medium-sized branches to work with.
2. Bunch a few together and tape to the wreath form. Stagger the bunches so the tape is hidden and the bunches fill out the wreath.
3. Add a bow for hanging. I cut my ribbon pretty long — about 6 feet, folded in half, knotted and tied with a regular bow and long ends hanging down. So simple!
I love how these wreaths turned out!
I’ll be sharing more of my front porch soon. I’ve added just a few new touches and will be showing them to you when the weather gets a little better.
