Easy Grapevine Wreath Pumpkin

I think I lost 5 pounds in sweat on Saturday.

Both of my kids had soccer games and the temperature soared to 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

Ugh.

It’s hard to get in the mood for fall decorating and crafts when it’s like that, but I am determined to invite fall to North Texas.

I found my inspiration in the freezing cold air conditioning at Hobby Lobby when I saw these little miniature grapevine wreaths.

The fall craft bug started to bite!

Even so, I didn’t have a lot of energy, so this craft was right up my alley.

I think this small start will get me in the mood for more!

TUTORIAL
Supplies/tools needed:

-two packages of mini grapevine wreaths
-twine or other dark string
-hot glue
-twig
-Spanish moss
-scissors
-glue gun

Directions:
String the wreaths like beads on the string.  Fan the wreaths out to make the pumpkin shape.  Tie a knot. Use the hot glue to adhere the twig to the middle of the pumpkin.  Add some Spanish moss.  Done!

With my small display, doesn’t it look like cool weather could be approaching any day?  Did you hear that Texas?  Cool weather is supposed to be coming!  I’m ready!

What’s the weather like where you are?  What are you doing to get ready for fall?

Super cute idea Julie! Love the mini grapevine wreaths!

  5. Patty Rumaker says:

Lovely! I know exactly how you feel about this 100 degree heat – I live in Dallas and it is yucky and hard to get excited about fall. I went into Hobby Lobby the other day too and it was freezing – I guess we are suppose to pretend its fall while we are in the store.
Thanks, Patty at Home and Lifestyle Design

  6. Such a cute ideal, I love it!

    Super cute!!

  8. Bless your heart, how awful it’s so hot yet. The only other place I can think of that might be that hot this time of year is Lake Havasu in AZ. We’ve been there about this time in Sept on our vacations, was 100 or more, it gets to be about 135 or 140 in July and August. Yeah, kinda toasty. We used to go to CO River outside Yuma, AZ in July and August, 120 or more.
Love your pumpkin, so cute, easy, quick and inexpensive. Love that idea. Hope it cools off for you soon. We live in western CO and it’s been high 80′s low 90′s. Enuf already. As soon as I saw the picture of your pumpkin I saw it was made of the wreaths, such a clever idea. Happy week

  9. Love this… off to Hobby Lobby…

  10. Cute!! That’s really adorable. I cleaned the front porch and door yesterday then hung my fall wreath. That’s as god as it gets now. Next week I’m just going to pretend it’s fall and go for it!

I spent some time at HL yesterday and was inspired too. All Christmas is 40% off this week and it has me thinking. We’ve been married 25 years…it’s time to update some things.

I got your message about Round Top. As much as I would absolutely love to go there….I’m helping my dad through chemo right now and that falls right about the time he will get his third treatment. Hoping to make it to Canton even if it is just for a few hours.

  11. Really cute – you are so inventive! We’re coming into Spring here but I wish it was Autumn because I so look forward to winter, even tho’ it doesn’t get that cold here!

  12. Jessica Ballard says:

This wreath is gorgeous. I will have to check out my Hobby Lobby for those. So cute. Thanks for sharing. I bet it would look cute painted as well.

  13. It’s been pretty warm here in NC.. but seeing all the fall decor around town is a big reminder that fall is coming!! I love fall!

  14. Cindy Batchelor says:

Wow this is such a great idea! The wreath looks great and so unique! This time of year always puts me in the mood to craft! Will def be trying this out this fall! Thank you so much for sharing!

  15. Super-cute!!! Love it! I’m not quite ready to put the fall stuff out yet, but come Oct 1st I will. Thanks for sharing!!

Here in Michigan, the temperature is supposed to be dropping quickly, so this is perfectly timed for me! Beautiful project- thanks!

  17. That’s such a cute project, and easy too! I’m going to have to make a few of these. It’s still blazing hot here in Nebraska, but I am READY FOR FALL!

    - April

  18. Oh I absolutely love this! I’ve seen pumpkins similar to these made with everything from canning lids to dryer hoses, but these little mini wreaths are my favorite ones for sure. I think I need to make one for my front porch fall display this year! Thanks for the tutorial!

  19. Jobi and Fisher says:

I loved Hobby Lobby but we don’t have one here in Florida. The mini-pumpkins are adorable!

  20. Chrystal Mahan says:

It’s been far too hot up here in Michigan for this time of year as well. I’m usually doing a lot of canning and I haven’t even been able to think about it! Thankfully temps are going to drop and I’ll be doing tomatoes this weekend. Pumpkin time is my favorite time and I love this cute little craft. Sadly the nearest craft store is 30 minutes away. I may have to improvise and check back with what I come up with. You have inspired me though!

  21. That is such a cute and easy fall craft! It’s been super hot here, too, and I can’t wait for fall. Maybe if we all make one of these, fall will take pity on us and arrive? :)

  22. Mountain Mama says:

This is so up my alley! I love this and it looks so stinkin easy! I think I might do this as a craft with my mom’s group!Pinning!!!!

  23. That’s a fantastic idea! It looks easy enough for me to do quickly in between the 27 other things we always have going on here. It’s finally starting to cool off here in the midwest and I’m ready to make fall crafts!

  24. Jenn Brockman says:

Those are cute. I just don’t do crafty. There’s no time – or rather, I would rather make time for stuff I enjoy.

  25. Shirley@Housepitality Designs says:

How so very, very cute and creative!!!! pinning!!!

  26. What a cute idea! I love fall, and living in New England, it’s absolutely gorgeous up here this time of year. Our weekend is supposed to be beautiful with high 60′s/low 70′s and lots of sun. I’m always looking for fun ways to decorate my home on a budget, and this little craft sounds perfect. Thanks so much for sharing your tutorial, and I really hope the temps drop for you soon :)

I am a born & raised Texas girl, that was relocated to OKC 3 years ago. We love it here! I can’t wait to follow you (not literally, of course) ;-)

  30. Adorable! I pinned it to my “Autumn” board.

  31. Felicias Red Door Life says:

Okay that pumpkin is way too cute. I may have to make a trip to Hobby Lobby soon to see if I can find some mini wreaths. Thanks for the inspiration.

And it looks like relief may be on it’s way I’m in North Louisiana and it stayed under 90 today, a miracle I tell you.

  32. Mrs. Stephens says:

Oh that’s a nice craft idea. It looks easy, like something I can pull off.

  42. Aimee Freeman says:

It’s so crazy how many craft posts I am coming across – I have been saying in recent weeks that I would like to get back in crafting. I enjoy it and the kids enjoy. I was thinking Fall would be the perfect time because most nights we can sit outside and enjoy the cool breeze – and I love all the colors of Fall. This post was great – you can something pretty awesome without any complicated directions. I cannot wait to try my hand at making one. :)

  43. Really cute idea. and easy too. That’s my style. It is feeling like fall in Ohio here.

  44. Natasha Papousek says:

How cute is that?! I have a hard time getting geared up for fall here in Southern California. We don’t have many trees that turn colors and it doesn’t get cold. I love fall colors, though — so rich and warm — your craft looks like fun — and may even inspire me to do something autumn-related around the house!

  45. Teresa Moody says:

    Super cute!

  46. Raj Thandhi @Pink Chai Style says:

So cute and resourceful! As much as I love crafts, I have a tendency to neglect Fall decorating, this has inspired me to give it a shot this year:)

I can’t wait for fall weather! I love this time of the year. :) Love the homemade pumpkin. So cute!

  49. So cute, and so easy to do! Thanks so much!

  50. Rhonda Berlin says:

Very cute! I need to do this one… I’ve been thinking about how to make my porch look more fall-like and I’m sick of my old decorations!

  51. Fall has crept in very quickly here in Philly! It went from being hot (and needing a/c) to being chilly…and needing a light jacket when you go out, in like a week’s time! But, that’s OK…I love fall — and all the great stuff that comes with it, like pumpkins and so on. This looks like a craft I can accomplish and be proud of!

  52. Jennie Bryant says:

Very cute! I live in New Hampshire, where fall is my favorite season of all. Love it! It was 90 a week ago, but it’s been dipping below freezing at night. Love. It.

  53. Lovely craft…I love, love, love your home:)

  54. momsabasketcase.blogspot.com says:

So cute and so easy for this non-crafty person to do LOL. Really loving your home! Thanks for sharing!

  55. Karen Curtis says:

It looks easy enough thanks to your great tutorial. However, I think that I would probably botch it somehow! I know your family will enjoy this for years to come!

  56. You had me at “Easy!” This is beautiful! I can’t wait to try it! I am featuring this idea on my blog, today. I hope you’ll stop by and check it out!
