The holiday count down is on and I just checked one major thing off of my list.
My dining room is finally all set and ready for our big feast tomorrow.
We are hosting my husband’s family and we will have a nice size crowd — nine adults and four kids. The grown-ups will be in the dining room and the kids will be in the kitchen (that table won’t get set until tomorrow because we use it every day).
I had to steal some chairs from the kitchen and we added the two leaves to extend the table so we wouldn’t be bumping elbows too much.
It’s such a blessing to have a table large enough to seat a crowd.
I don’t have a tablecloth large enough for the table when it’s fully extended so I used some linen fabric I had for a project I haven’t done.
I didn’t hem it at all, thus the fringed edges on the sides, but I’m totally okay with that.
I saved money by using pumpkins and gourds I had outside on my front porch, as well as evergreen cuttings from our Leland Cypress and some leaves from the Maple tree mixed in.
I set everything on top of a table runner I already had.
I love creating a Thanksgiving tablescape every year.
I think a beautifully set table makes guests feel welcome and special.
I hope you have a very Happy Thanksgiving!
Beautiful as always. Love your use of natural items. Makes it so much nicer…will be making your pecan pie and turkey recipe ….happy thanksgiving.
Thank you, Sandra! Enjoy your Thanksgiving — and I hope your pie and turkey turn out beautifully!

Thank you so much, Ellis — Happy Thanksgiving!
Your dishes are just gorgeous. Have a blessed Thanksgiving.

I love your set up! It looks beautiful! This will be our first thanksgiving in Houston, and we are hosting family too. I had to set up our table off the kitchen so we would have space…I enjoy your blog.–Aimee
