New Favorite Finds {Favorite Things Friday}

One of my favorite haunts for great things for my home is Anthropologie.

True, their stuff isn't cheap, but they often have great clearance sales and every so often it's fun to splurge on a small cup or plate or something else funky and fun.

I was surfing around on their site this week and stumbled upon some of their new things for the home and just had to share what caught my eye.

Look at all this colorful goodness!  I don't know which is my favorite.

1.  Atingham bowl.
2.  Lady Bugs plate
3.  Nathalie lete dessert plates
4.  Flower patch measuring cup
5.  Garden Sketch measuring cups
6.  Attingham tea cup
7.  Botticino marble coasters
8.  Attingham dinnerware
9.  Dotty fox butter dish

I should mention that I am not affiliated with Anthropologie.  I'm just inspired by and love so many of their things!

What inspires you?

Have a happy weekend and thanks so much for reading!

How to Hang Plates

So many of you liked my plate wall when I showed you my dining room re-do the other day.

It's one of my favorite features, too.

I received a question about how I hung my plates.  Which made me remember a post I read on another blog when the blogger asked people how they hung their plates and what method they preferred.

So, today, I'm showing you my favorite way to hang plates.  It's super simple and, I haven't had any disasters hanging them this way.

Tips for Re-Upholstering Dining Chairs

When I go shopping I’m that crazy person who is constantly saying to herself, “I can make that,” or “I can do that myself.”

That was the case with my dining chairs.

I had long been admiring fully upholstered chairs but I couldn’t stomach the $400 + per chair price tag that I saw at many stores.

Table and chairs at the Wisteria store in Dallas

So, when I found my mint condition $450 table and chairs set on Craig’s list I didn’t hesitate when the fabric color was not my cup of tea.  That little voice in my head piped up, “I can reupholster them myself!”

And, yes, I could.  But. I’m not going to lie…it took more time and fortitude than I had anticipated because I did several chairs instead of just one or two.

If you’re like me and want to reupholster your own dining chairs, here are a few tips I have learned along the way:

My Favorite Room Guest Post at Savvy Southern Style {And a Few Questions Answered}

Happy Friday y'all!

First, thank you so much for all your fantastic and uplifting comments about my dining room.  I am honored that so many of you liked my room as much as I do.

Second, I am so excited that today, Miss Kim over at Savvy Southern Style, has invited me to share My Favorite Room over at her beautiful blog!  I have loved her blog for ages, so I am beyond thrilled that she invited me to write a post about a room in my home!  I share even more details about my dining room and the changes I've made in my guest post today, so be sure to hop on over to Savvy Southern Style to take a look.

Finally, I want to answer a couple of questions that came up about my room:

Wall paint color:  Weekend in the Country (don't you love that name?) by Valspar (Lowe's).  However, I had it color-matched at Home Depot in their Behr Premium Plus paint.  It was just a personal thing.  I really love the Behr PP paint...it has such great coverage and I was painting over a dark faux finish and I didn't want to do a million coats.

Chair Fabric:  Checkmate in Acorn - Calico Corners

Slipcover Fabric:  I don't know the name of it.  It's an upholstery linen fabric I bought at a local discount interior fabric store in Hurst, TX called, Home Fabrics.

Pillow Fabric:  John Robshaw's Mani Indigo ordered from House Fabric.

I will sharing a tutorial on how I reupholstered the checked chairs and the slipcovers soon so please check back.

That's it for now.  Thank you, again, for all of the great comments and don't forget to go to Savvy Southern Style today to check out my guest post!

For past Favorite Rooms go here...lots of great eye candy!

My Dining Room -- The Big Reveal!!

Well, it's been months in the making and, truthfully, I've had it mostly done for quite awhile now.  The hold-up?  DIYing the chairs.  Six chairs.  They almost got the better of me, but I'm happy and proud to say it's DONE!

I was going to drag out the reveal...give it to you piece by piece and then, BAM!  Give you the final reveal.  But, I'm so happy it's done I'm just doing it all in one post and then I'll do some how-to posts and tell you where I bought stuff.

Easy & Delicious Grilled Vegetables

I hope you all had a fantastic Fourth of July!  We went to the Texas Hill Country for a mini-vacation with the family so I've been a bit MIA on the blog lately.

We had a great time relaxing by the pool and getting out on a pontoon boat on a nearby lake.  The kids had a blast!

Now we're home and it's back to reality -- like laundry and making dinner.

Which leads me to a question and a quick recipe.

Who does the grilling in your family?

I'm asking because in our family it's me.
