An Old Washtub

I’m lucky to have a very sweet mother-in-law.
She is nice, sweet-tempered and treats me like her own daughter.
And, every so often she comes bearing cool gifts.
This is what she bestowed upon me earlier this week:
She got it a long time ago and never got around to fixing it up so she gave it to me!
It’s my lucky day!
It’s definitely rusty and crusty.
She thought I might want to paint it to make it look a little nicer.
But, I’m not sure I will.  I’m definitely considering it.

The legs are pretty rusty and I’m not sure steel wool and paint would do it.

Besides, I kind of like it all rusty and crusty.
I’m hoping to turn it into a planter.
Kind of like these:

Nitty Gritty Potager
I also thought of using it like this instead near my grill…
Fancy Schmancy blog
So many great ideas….
And, to paint or not to paint?
That cute little work station looks pretty nice all painted up.
Any thoughts, sweet friends?

Oh, how fun. I loved seeing your great containers and am heading out to the garden to fluff mine.

I can hardly wait to see what you do with this lovely gift!

Also, looking forward to the start of tomorrow’s blog tour.

    Have a lovely week,

  3. How cool! A good friend of mine has one of those…she uses it to serve canned drinks at parties. Also, she makes her own potpourri and sometimes it’s all in there. You will have so much fun with that old tub. BTW, I don’t know that I’d paint it. :)

Oh my I would flip if someone brought me a gift so amazing! I love all the ideas you came up with. Maybe if you can’t decide you could leave some rusty and paint just the legs. Can’t wait to see what you do!

  6. Work station near your grill I would clear coat it to preserve the beautiful patina, prevent it from getting so rusty that a leg falls off and also to prevent any flakes of rust from getting into your food.

  7. I can’t wait to see how this turns out! Thank you for all of the congrats!

I love hearing from you! Thank you so much for your comment!
