The "It’s Complicated" House {Favorite Things Friday}

Last week I showed you the house from the movie, “Something’s Gotta Give.”  I told you it was my very favorite movie house ever.

Well, yes, that’s true.  But a very close runner-up (and I mean Michael Phelps in the Bejing Olympics close — you know where there’s like a milli-second between wall touches for the win) is the house from the movie, “It’s Complicated.”

Oh man…this house!!

It’s small, cozy, quaint, rustic, comfy, warm, inviting, relaxing, sophisticated…

Sigh…

I love it.

In the movie, Meryl Streep’s character complains about the kitchen and she’s planning on renovating to get a “real” kitchen.  Well, I absolutely love this kitchen!  It’s so full of character and charm.  And, I absolutely love the black window-panes on her kitchen windows.

Look at all her glass jars above her microwave behind her and all her fresh baked goods on the counter.  Can you imagine the delicious smells coming from this kitchen?!
In the living room, I love all the slipcovered chairs and how everything is facing each other for cozy conversation.

That wood-beamed ceiling is to die for and everything about this room is just so welcoming.
Here it is when she and her gal pals are having a girl’s night:

And, when her ex-husband (Alec Baldwin) is watching a movie with the kids:

I love spaces that are beautiful AND functional.
Here are a few other rooms in the house…
The master bedroom:

The master bath:
(I love the claw foot tub!)

And, this window-filled hallway  - gorgeous!

Here it is in a scene from the movie:

The exterior has some pretty amazing spaces as well.  I love the French-inspired look of her back patio. Here’s Meryl with Steve Martin (her architect) planning her home renovations:

I love her potting area.  I think I’ve seen it on Pinterest!
But, I’m really dying over her vegetable garden.  I think I actually gasped a little during the movie when I saw it!

I mean, WOW!!
What else can I say about this amazing movie house?
Do you have any favorites?
Happy Friday!

Not only do I miss Nora Ephron for her writing skill, I miss her movie sets. I loved every one of the homes in her movies. As a matter of a fact, I posted a blog today about a friend that had her home built using the Somethings Gotta Give house as her inspiration. PS… I’m from Texas too!
