Fast, Easy, Delicious Fruit Smoothie Recipe

If you're looking for an easy, healthy way to eat breakfast on the go then let me introduce you to this smoothie recipe.

The recipe is based on a recipe I found in a book called, Spent by Frank Lipman.  I adjusted it to suit my own tastes.  They are super yummy, yet full of protein and healthy nutrients.  They could also easily be a dessert!

I started making this a year or two ago and my husband and I drink one at least once (and often 2-3 times) a week.

Here's the recipe:

Approx. 2 cups frozen fruit (any will do..today I used a berry blend from Costco plus a few slices of frozen banana -- bananas help the texture)

1 scoop whey protein powder (I use Muscle Milk, vanilla flavor -- use the measuring scoop provided with the powder and use their measurement for one serving)

1 Tablespoon milled flaxseed (this is optional...I add it because it is heart-healthy)

1 1/2 C. of Almond Milk (I use vanilla flavored almond milk)

1/2 C. coconut water

3 -4 ice cubes

Blend in a blender until smooth.
This recipe will make two large (12 oz. or more) smoothies.

You may have to adjust the amount of liquid up or down to get the consistency you desire.  With the measurements shown above, I made two large, thick, yet drinkable smoothies.

Enjoy!
